The EAST Initiative (www.EASTinitiative.org) presented Arkansass Centerpoint High School with the organizations 2009 Founders Award this week during the 2009 EAST Conference. It is the tenth year of the event and the fourth consecutive year, the Arkansas-based initiative held its annual conference in Hot Springs. Centerpoint High School, located in Amity, Arkansas, received the award given annually by the EAST Initiative to the school that best shows the EAST values of teamwork, collaboration, problem solving and community involvement. The award is presented in honor of Tim Stephenson, founder of the EAST Initiative in Greenbrier, Arkansas in 1996. EAST believes the award represents a great opportunity to showcase a programs abilities and hard work over the last year. Three additional schools named schools of excellence were Eureka Springs High School (Eureka Springs, Arkansas), Har-Ber High School (Springdale, Arkansas) and Maui High School (Maui, Hawaii).
