I have been traveling around West Africa including Senegal and Gambia. Today arrived to my hotel in Guinea-Bissau and they have an aviary with a pair of wild caught Senegal Parrots and an African Rose Ringed Parakeet.

Unfortunately the Senegal Parrots are terribly plucked and kept in poor conditions. Nonetheless, one of them was very friendly and followed me around on the aviary bars. It even poked its head up against the bars so that I could pet it and talk to it.

I will have many more videos of captured and wild Senegal Parrots as well as much more footage of West Africa when I return.

  • Whoa for wild caught he/she seemed pretty nice! :)

  • u should of taken them and rescue them.i hate the way cruel people take care of birds.the people should be locked up in cages n see how it feel.

  • That poor bird :o( If it was possible I would of set him/her free...poor thing..i hate seeing animals in poor living conditions!

  • I love Parrots and I have an African Grey, but I feel deeply that they should not be taken out of their own habitat, its heart breaking the way some Parrots are treated, mine has lots of freedom, but when she laid four eggs hoping to be a mother, I felt so sad for her because she does'nt have a mate, it seemed so cruel to me.

  • Really feel sorry for those guys in there, put me on a bit of a downer seeing him, looks as though he is crying out for attention, poor thing...

  • becarful from the Tsetse disease

  • So sweet, all bird owner know birds love a good scratch. My counure would rather have a good scatch than a food reward. Have safe travels.

  • Are you sure they're wild caught? One of those seemed pretty eager to get it's head scratched.
