During British rule in India, Umarkot was captured in 1843 and was made headquarter of Thar & Parkar. Buildings of British period including some decaying offices, circuit house (1877) and the grave of Mr. H. E Watson (1846-94) deputy commisioner of the area, with stone pavillion can still be seen inside the fort.
I do remember we spend most of our childhood playing and wandering in and around this historical fort in umerkot.
