Hate to throw it out there, but first: 'Covers' and 'Musical Costumes' are two different ballparks with Phish. This is them doing a cover, their own rendition of a Frank Zappa song, versus a musical costume of a Frank Zappa album. Second: They don't do a bad job. Third: This is 1989... And why shouldn't Phish be able to cover one of their heroes? I'm sure Zappa would be diggin it.

As much as I love Phish, I have to say a spade's a spade...they butchered this song everytime I saw them. ZPZ is the next best thing to the Mothers...and before you crucify me for this, at the risk of sounding like an asshole (too late now), YES, I do a much better job every time we do this song, even on my worst nights...

Really? So all those Halloween shows are not intended to be faithful reproductions? Hm. Coulda fooled me.

FWIW, I think Phish is great but lets be serious here Zappa and his staff were/are deities in comparison.

phish doesn't cover songs to recreate what the composer intended. but thanks for playing.
