Cuba is known for its turquoise water and powdery white sand. On Cayo Coco and Cayo Guillermo, the beaches rank high in my list of favorite beaches that I have been too. It's somewhat isolated, not too many people and the water is so warm and clear. Schools of fish abound so close to the shore.
One of the country's best beaches, the Playa Pilar (Pilar Beach) is located at the western end of Cayo Guillermo. This beach is named after Ernest Hemingway's yacht, the Pilar.

@zinger888 Find a Flight from USA to Cancun, Then just a short hop to Cayo Largo.
Or, if your North, near the Canadian Border, drive or fly to Canada, then Fly to Cayo Largo.
Cuban Customs hardly ever stamp US Passports. Also, some Colleges do a thing where you take a course about Cuba, then you go on a trip with the class.
It's a well kept secret, but Many Many US Citizens have vacationed in Cuba! MANY.
