Are DDR1, DDR2 and DDR3 interchangeable? Can I salvage my old hard drives? What about my optical drives? Common upgrading questions answered here.

DDR1 400 is faster then DDR2 400 because DDR1 400 has lower latency then DDR2 400. It wasn't until DDR2 667 when you finally saw a diff between DDR1 and DDR2 in perfomance. The first next gen rams tend to be always slower then the last gen highest ram for that reason.
