Japanese Countryside Competition

the first night I was in Nakamura watching the harvest festival most of the danjiris met at a shrine for a battle of sorts. The battled for crowd support to see who had the most dynamic team.

This is very interesting indeed. I didn't know there were more festivals including lampion wagons in Japan.

If you ever have the chance go and the Neputa festivals of Aomori-ken in August, a series of events in towns like Goshogawara, Hachinohe, and Hirosaki with locally very different flavors. I promise it will blow you away like no other matsuri you have ever seen.
