This serial is actually centered around the mom, Tara, who suffers Multiple Personality Disorder. Makes for brill comedy and drama.
And happily, Yes, Marshall is open ;)
Re the mom, on a serious note, the show deals with her family coping and loving her and her alter personalities unconditionally, its touching :') Which ties into their acceptance of Marshall.
