Upon discharge the name and a point of contact for each Vet should be immediately faxed to the DAV or local VSO, the 1996 passage of the HIPAA act is preventing those who could help a new vet the most, from even knowing of their existence. VSOs' don't need their S.S. no. just acknowledgement of their existence and point of contact. Many new Vets do not want to be located and stay away from any VA services; it would be in the best interest of all, to amend the HIPAA act of 1996.

The 1996 passage of the HIPAA act is preventing those who could help a new veteran the most from even knowing of their existence.The HIPPA act which is suppose to be helping veterans privacy is actually hurting them.VSOs' donot need their SS no. number just acknowledgement of their existence and a place of contact. Many vets returning home do not want to be located and stay away from any VA, it would be in the best interest of the new vet and VA to make an amendment to the HIPPA act of 1996

The Military Just Use You And Dump You AfterWards,they would have become long term psychiatric patients,over 23% of People on the Street are Veterans.
Prevention is always better than a cure don't join because they treat you like garbage once they have used you.
