Herpetologist George Van Horn was bitten by an Eastern rattlesnake while extracting its venom during the daily "milking" show at Reptile World Serpentarium in St. Cloud, Fl, on Jan. 13, 2010. George was taken to a St. Cloud hospital for treatment of the bite. We heard later from the people at the Serpentarium that Mr. Van Horn is going to be okay. The Serpentarium is a major facility for collecting material for anti-venom treatment.

  • Looks like he (and she) do not know what they are doing. Second, they foolishly leave the snake unattended. Third, he very foolishly moves about instead of keeping his pulse down but not mving around excessively.

  • Sooner or later your gonna get bit, thats a fact!

up with your own and learn from your mistakes. When you do learn from your mistakes, you will not get bit that exact same way again...trust me, there are numerous accidents to have when it comes with venomous snakes and its within the blink of an eye.

George Van Horn knows exactly what he is doing, he is the director of one of the oldest venom extraction facilities in the U.S. There is no show off at all in the video, it was purely an accident and he practices with safety in the hind sight as all venom extractor's do. Everyone works differently in this line of work, its what works best for them and what is comfortable. There is no book you can go buy at Barnes and Noble to teach you techniques on venom extraction. You have to come

  • dont mess with the snakes ha
