...when Robert Pires tried it. He had a run before a touch the ball, so the defense rushed in the penalty area and, above this, Henry did not have the time to come close enough to receive the ball. Cruyff's genius was in the timing of the moves.

The real smart think is that Cruyff doesn't run, he fakes to place the ball so his partner can start running much before everyone because he knows that the ball will be touch at this particular time. He has an information that noboby has, then a can be far in advance and make a quiete cross. :-)

the one who passes the ball, has to pass it forward, otherwise its not legal ;-)

its risky because the one he passes the ball is outside the box and if someone is faster they loose the ball and maybe a goal

it is very legal. as soon as the ball is touched, players can enter the penalty box area. he is smart because the ref blew the whistle then he kicked it. his team mate is smart ( i think they planned it) but it is very legal. teams might try this but players are probably more alert now and run asap
