I made this video for a Brit Lit class project (at Baylor University). I used Elizabeth Barrett Browning's poem, The Cry of the Children, to parody the Sarah McLachlan for ASPCA ads. Inspiration also came from an SNL clip with Abby Eliott and Seth Myers. If you aren't familiar with the SNL clip... I seriously urge you to hulu it, this parody will be much funnier if you do.

  • Are you really that dense? Go read some British poetry and educate yourself.

If you read the description I state that this was a course project. I'm not making light of the children's situation. Read Elizabeth Barrett Browning's poem "the cry of the children" and you might actually understand that I'm not making fun of anything. I took the form of Sarah McLachlan's ASPCA commercials to create one inspired by Browning's poem. Yes, I used satire to do so, but you're missing the greater point.
