@galaxyangel10 Sorry to be rude, but are you people stupid? I'm not saying this because i am a big RankaxAlto fan, but he is in love in Ranka. In ep 23 Klang and Alto talked about Ranka, Klang said "Alto, is that your love?", and Sheryl, said "I always knew it". In the movie i think he ends up with Sheryl but that's different. Like, in Clannad Tomoya ends up with Nagisa, but it still exist "Another world-Kyo chapter", and "Another world-Tomyo chapter stills exists. It's the same.

@BleachOD Come to think about it (and forgive the spam), the ending of the second movie shows his preferences and he sneaks it just under the nose of everyone: The credits are mean to be the hinted future... Where Sheryl and Ranka are singing in a concert live... a song that is about their bond/relationship and it isn't very platonic in content. We still don't know or hear if Alto returned.

Even if he'll share it with Sheryl (because one mustn't fly alone), he still loves the sky more like she loves her song more.

The movies did eliminate the major competition (the sky and the songs). Ranka was a non issue, IMO.

@BleachOD He was very... distant from her and was giving her a dispassionate answer. He didn't protest, he didn't look torn with emotions like with Sheryl. He was just.... apologetic. There was no spark, no raging emotion or resistance. Ranka isn't dying here like Sheryl is (the reason why she didn't want to hear his answer: she thought she wouldn't survive - it's confirmed). She knows he's not interested by his lukewarm reaction.

The movie removes Sheryl's major competition (the sky).

@BleachOD The second movie proves exactly why Alto didn't have feelings for Ranka. Take episode 24, where Alto was confessing to Sheryl (according to the scriptwriter. He was passionate, sought her out, promised her to return immediately, there was flirting, kissing, he protested a lot when she wanted to end the affair.

Ranka got a similar scene in which... he didn't even think to seek her out, she did. He didn't even think about seeing her out and promise her to return.

@galaxyangel10 They are still butthurt. They also believe Ranka was the main character (even she's always put *after* Sheryl in ending credits and character presentation officially? Since the beginning?). Alto's the protagonist. Ranka's more interesting than him (so is Sheryl).

They try to argue the fact the scriptwriter always intended Alto/Sheryl an called it off to milk more money from the fanbase.

Or claim Kawamori's a Ranka fan (debunked, he likes Grace then Sheryl more than Ranka).
