  • A huge thank for posting this vidoe. I had the great fortune of spending time with Panditji during my childhood. He used to teach my elder brother. Better known as Godai Maharaj, Panditji was probably the most popular tabla maestro during his hey days. The sound he produced from the tabls remains unmatched till today. Sad that great artists like him are being forgotten today but he remains in the hearts of those who were witness to his mesmerising skills

  • thanks s o much for uploading

  • interesting his thumb is all over the gajara, which I"ve been told not to do. DIfferent gharana I guess. Also look at the bend in his right thumb! Double jointed?

  • awesome playing no words.........

  • Words defy me to express my exhilaration to listen to this great maestro. Hats off to the uploader

  • Way back - around the time I was 10 or so in the late 1960's or 1970's I had heard Panditji on AIR. I could never understand why Panditji's tabla playing applied to me at that age.

Later others introduced me to the music Allah Rakha, Zakir Hussain and many other percussionists. But the magic that was in Panditji's music was and is still missing in these Johnny-come-lately's.

Now I heard this and I know why!

There is the purity of the sound in Panditji's playing - a sweetness...

  • Fantastic. Thanks for uploading.

  • Brilliant stuff.

  • incredible Tahnks YOU!
