to all you purists who claim this is not Artie Shaw: Who Cares? His originals are apparently unavailable and this at least makes his music and arrangements open to people who have never known his genius. Artie Shaw was a one-off, a one of a kind rare human being and one of my favorites. I for one am not going to split hairs about who's playing.

This is later version by Artie Shaw

@jim30bell Could be a recording done in the early fifties with Artie leading the orchestra.

I don't care what RickBusciglio's "source" is...this is NOT Artie Shaw on clarinet, nor is it Aritie Shaw's original recording of Temptation. Even the sax solos are different from the original. You can find the original posted several places on YouTube...including the one by "SwingMan1937". I'm amazed more Artie Shaw fans haven't come forward to point out my observation.

@jim30bell Are you sure?

This is NOT the original Artie Shaw recording of "Temptation". In fact, it is NOT even Artie Shaw on the clarinet. The arrangement is approximately the same, but the solos are different. Many clarinetists tried to copy Artie Shaw in style and phrasing...but his tone was unique...even after he changed reeds, mouthpieces..and even makes of clarinet.

That glissando at the end by Artie is something else.

The source was an Artie Shaw CD!
