@rweerakkody4565 Alas, it is pitiful that the Copts are sort of persecuted in their own land. There has been clashes between the Copts and the Egyptian Muslims. There are reports where Coptic churches are being attacked and Coptic women are being kidnapped and forced to convert to Islam. Although the Copts are now an Arabic speaking population, they claim descent from Ancient Egyptians, not Arabs which the Muslim claim descent.

@rweerakkody4565 Coptic language is after all descended from Ancient Egyptian language. Although it ceased to function as a daily spoken language by the 17th century, it survived as the lithurgical language of the Coptic Church. The Coptic Church had preserved the language and used it in prayers and songs. Coptic monks learned the language and wrote books in it. Coptic language had played an important role for the deciphering of Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs.

i thought that coptic was a boring language, but my god! mr. champllion used that to read ancient egyptian! it completely changed my view
