The system will give cut/fill to the operator in real-time or it can automatically drive the blade to design.

The 2 poles, sticking up from the blade, with the white bulbs on the ends are the recievers. The coiled cables go into the cab onto a screen that tells the operator how to move the blade - at least thats how I've seen it done.
