Jaffna civilians entertained-03.08.2009-ITN News Sri Lanka

A musical show was organised in Jaffna to entertain the civilians who had earlier heard only the sound of gunfire..
The Independent Television Network, Wasantham TV and Wasantham FM organised the event at the Doraiappa Stadium in Jaffna. Both Sri Lankan and South Indian popular Tamil vocalists joined in this musical show.

This musical show was arranged for the Northern civilians under the mediation of head of the Uthuru Wasanthaya Task Force and Senior Presidential Advisor and Parliamentarian Basil Rajapaksa and on the instructions of the President. The Defence Ministry extended full support under the guidance of Defence Secretary Gothabaya Rajapaksa, Ministers Mahindananda Aluthgamage and Douglas Devananda, former Western Province Chief Minister Reginald Cooray, Chairman of the Developemnt Lotteries Board Upali Liyanage and Lak Sathosa Chairman Nalin Fernando were among those present. The sponsors were the Development Lotteries Board, the Bank of Ceylon, Lak Sathosa, Delmege Company, Unilever Company and the Ole Trading Company. Music was provided by the Apsaras Group led by Mohan Raj.
