The Kingdom of Champa once ruled much of Cambodia and Vietnam. Antonio Graceffo visits a Cham village directly across the Tonle Sap River, from downtown Phnom Penh, to learn about the religion, language, and culture, of the descendents of the Champa Kingdom. In modern Cambodia, the Cham, who follow the religion of Islam, are the largest growing ethnic minority. The population is estimated between 500,000 to 1,000,000 people. The Cham have the highest birthrates of any ethnicity in Cambodia, with an average of 5 children per family. Many Cham villages are poor, but this particular community seemed to be doing well.

  • The way he recites the koran, his diction and intonation is similar to many malays in singapore, malaysia, thailand, philippines and indonesia. The Malay diaspora is spread far and wide within South-East Asia.

  • Hi brooklynmonk, the achenese language which is essentially Cham was written in Jawi script which is Arabic based. Of course it is gradually being romanised but people do still write in Jawi script.

whatever, no point changing your point of view, you are not important, iam not important either, and life still keep go on.

Iam just happy and felt like stress released when the muslim i saw in this video are not really vietnamese people, or at least not Kinh people. Hope that vietnamese will follow whether buddhism or chistian or catholic whatever, but Plzzz don't follow muslim. Actually vietnamese people are smart and realistic enough to not follow muslim, so iam happy
