  • I own an MS 360 and just tried a MS 660 today. All I can say is I do not understand why people think that the 660 is too big for general firewood and large house cleanups. The saw weighs only 2.5 lbs more and cuts faster with allot more power. I may pickup a 660 and try using that in place of the 360.

  • @mictrik Good luck with that. I had a 361, it weighed out at 17 lbs. with a 20" bar, my 660 weighs 23 lbs. with a 25". Not nearly the 2.5 lbs difference your claiming.

  • Was this log already cut on the other side? If it was 40" like you said, you couldn't cut it in one pass. Seems like the saw went into the wood a little too easily at the start of the cut. I have same saw, same chain.

  • The outer 3" or so was kinda soft, so with the over-buck at the beginning of the cut I was able to cut the whole diameter while staying on one side. You dont necessarily need to have a matching sized bar to cut while standing on one side. If you over-buck you can do it. The 3" of soft stuff is why the beginning of the cut was easy as well. When the whole bar starts cutting thats when she slows down a little bit. I sharpen/touch up my chains quite often so they're always razor sharp.

  • Nice saw. I have the MS 441 magnum and really love it. What chain are you running on your saw there?

  • Very nice !!!

  • @Michslpgt - Probably power head to power head... My 361 is 12.3 lbs and a 660 16.5 lbs (non-wrap) Of course the 660 has bigger fuel & oil tanks and like you said yours, most typically run a larger bar. So yea weight in the woods is different.

  • Best saw in the world

  • @TheDraganflorin Maybe in your bedtime dreams

  • Got a MS660. Love it. Its a fantastic saw, we've run it on a shorter bar and it really rips.

  • @mictrik I agree with you 100%, I had the same experience when I tried this saw at a friends house. I'd love to have one. For a little extra weight you get a ton more capability, well said

  • @Michslpgt my 395 weighs 32 lbs with a 32 in bar and full of gas n oil

  • very slow.my 576xp cuts thaat in half the time

  • @Michslpgt Well, I think you have to weigh the powerhead by itself when making a comparison, for I would use the shortest bar to do the work. By Stihl's claims there is a 3-3.5lb difference in weight. Now if you place a heavier bar well of course it will weigh more. However, you a much more limited with the 360, 361, or 362 than you are with a 660 in terms of bar size. My point is that I found the 660 (i think the bar was around 28-32") to be fine to handle and it cuts faster.
