Sad when men equate beauty as a prize. How many of you would be considered Hollywood handsome? I think she's beautiful and the more Horatio love's her the more beautiful she'll be to him. And THAT comes with the love of a good woman/man. I consider myself plain but my husband of 39 years doesn't agree with that! Thank the heavens. :) You all are going to be disappointed if all you care about is beauty. It's rare that beauty isn't also egotistical and selfish from what I've seen.

@Songsmirth Dude, it's just a transfer. I mean, I'm the first to criticize these British dudes' relentless and humorless soldiering, but it's not like serving on a smaller vessel is some evil punishment. Doherty is presumably an enlisted sailor, and if not he would be compensated...

@Songsmirth but some of us aren't so sure whether "Horry" is really that into her. I mean, here's a guy who can't look away from his friggen job for a minute (He didn't say "I love you"). As I understand it, the books (and the Gregory Peck motion picture) have poor Mariah die in Childbirth, and then he gets to marry some Dutchess. Not fair, I know. Not fair at all...

@Radars22 One more thing. Ioan (is that right?) wanted to continue the show and I don't understand, as popular and money making at the time, that they didn't. They could do it now and have him be of an advanced age which think is what he's fighting for.There must be some real block that we can't understand. The DVD's are in most stores here in Montana so that tells me that it's still making them $. I haven't researched this lately and will do so to see if there's any progress. Will let U know

@Radars22 Yes, the baby seems to make a difference but I think it would to any man. The excitment of finding out they fathered a child is a heady thing. I remember telling my husband when I found out we were going to have babies and I can still remember the look on his face each time. This young man got it perfectly in that scene. Absolute amazement. lol :) But I don't know how much more love he'd have. I think the sea will always be his first love. Yes, sad they ended the show.

@Songsmirth You raise some very good points there. He was honest with how he felt about her, especially in the last few parts to this episode. I guess she deluded herself into thinking that there was something there that wasn't to help her get through. I must say, when she revealed that he was to be a father in the end he did seem to look at her in a new light. It's such a shame they ended this series. It would have been nice to see how things panned out after his promotion.
