Lego® Mindstorms Color Sorter

A brief video showing the operation of one of the demonstration models for the Lego® Mindstorms platform, the Color Sorter. A second clip at the end of this movie shows a close up of the tilting action that allows balls to pass in front of the light sensor, which triggers the tray rotation procedure.

I've been tinkering with some potential changes to the platform focusing on both the hardware (more slots for more colors) and software (more complex programming with less wasted motion).

Astute observers can hear some modifications made to the audio - I had to insert some additional status sounds in the "yellow" subroutine in order to troubleshoot some timing problems that appeared in that chain of commands.
