(Filmed southwest to south -- same damage, but filmed from the roof.) Rain, hail and high winds ripped through Omaha on June 27, 2008 around 5 pm. My century-old neighborhood had a lot of downed trees that damaged homes and cars. Luckily the tree at 48th and Capitol fell right in the middle of the street and only damaged 2 or 3 parked vehicles, so no one was hurt. Omaha has awesome citizens and it was cool when neighbors and even strangers stepped up to help clear and clean the street so traffic could get through again.
Yes, and it was hit really fast. Every Friday before July 4th, we have a big, outdoor concert for free at Memorial Park. This year 38 Special and Cool and the Gang were supposed to play, so there were tons of people outside, waiting for it to start. Luckily, most people took cover and no one was seriously hurt. On the news, there was a lady who had bruises on the back of her legs from the hail!
