The one and only, Roderick David Stewart from the classic album, Every Picture Tells a Story. Still a brilliant inspired collection of tunes to this day...
The 'Wind Gods' (in lieu of the elusive true 'mandolin wind' appearing) in order of appearance:
1. Notus, a rococo sculpture. Palace under the Four Winds in Warsaw
2. Tower of the Winds in ancient Athens, part of the frieze depicting the Greek wind gods Boreas (north wind, on left) and Skiron (northwesterly wind, on the right).
3. Boreas misbehaving with Oreithyia. Detail from an Apulian red-figure oinochoe, 360 BC
4. Zephyrus, the Greek god of the west wind and the goddess Chloris, from a 1875 engraving by William-Adolphe Bouguereau
5. Zephyrus and Hyacinth; Attic red-figure cup from Tarquinia, ca 480 BC, Boston Museum of Fine Arts
6. Greek Wind God. Greco-Buddhist art fragment of Gandhara depicting the wind god Boreas, Hadda, Afghanistan, 2nd century
7. Japanese Wind God Fujin, 17th century. Fūjin (風神, Fūjin?) is the Japanese god of the wind and one of the oldest Shinto gods. He was present at the creation of the world and when he first let the winds out of his bag, they cleared the morning mists and filled the Gate between heaven and earth so the sun [could shine]. He is portrayed as a terrifying dark demon wearing a leopard skin, carrying a large bag of winds on his shoulders. A legend of Chinese Buddhism states that Fūjin and Raijin, the god of thunder, were both originally evil demons who opposed Buddha. However they were captured in battle with Buddha's army of heaven, and have worked as gods since.
