This promotional film from 1960 was discovered by Peter J. Smith, Director of the Seaside Heights Office of Public Relations in May 2008, and was converted to modern video format by Joe
Verderosa of Greenrose Media. Peter had seen this film once before in his life, when it was shown by Mr. Hugh J. Boyd, Principal of his namesake school in Seaside Heights.
Peter spent five years looking for this video inside the Borough Hall. One day, he had to reach high on a shelf to retrieve a box of 8 radios.
However, the box only had 7 radios inside. This made him grab a stepladder and look for the radio. The radio was found on top of a reel of film, which turned out to be the long-lost Sun and Fun video. We like to think that the spirit of J. Stanley Tunney, who appears in this film, and is believed to occassionally make a paranormal visit to the Borough Hall, led us to this valuable piece of history.

  • I wonder if those smokers are still alive today?

  • @emmoon1 Probably not. It was fifty years ago, but even worse, all that smoking was terrible for their health!

  • Seaside Heights used to be a GREAT PLACE!!!!!!!!

  • @debramkelly It used to be a great place, and now it's an even better place. It's among the most famous destinations in the world now. Don't hate us because we are world famous.

  • NOW people !! look what we do.. We are addicted to social media, we put our hearth on it. We look more for new technology devices - material .. but the values of life has been forgotten ..!!

  • @MrGonzaloRay..Social media or not, how does that mean that "we all" are addicted to anything, or have forgotten our values. Maybe that's how YOU think and feel, but it's not everyone.

  • @bostonalext well I'm sorry but it WAS better back then. Tough shite, take it or leave it; the reasons Palisades Park and Keansburg and Seaside Heights shut down is because the Puerto Ricans and blacks ruined it. God, it would be nice for whites to go to. Jeez, blacks have taken over every single beach in the tri-state area. And they ruin it, they RUIN it, with fighting, etc.

  • @FenianandLimey

As if you knew shit about the Jersey Shore, you lying, racist fucktard.

Palisades closed due to mismanagement, and the land under it getting to be worth more than the Park was.

Keansburg was always a dump, and was called, "white Harlem", due to types of people that hung out there.

And Seaside was ruined by white (orange?) Guidos, not Blacks or Hispanics.

Good luck even finding a "Black" beach, in NJ. Sadly, there are only two, at Sandy Hook and Asbury Park.

  • @oljerzbastard I live close enough to that summer toxic waste to stay away from there. I would rather take my chances in Asbury at 3am than go to Seaside in the summer time. Fall, Winter, Spring... its ok, but when the summer hits the toxic waste of lives from the north invade the poor shore town.

  • @njtopcatt oh you live here? that's right no u fuckin don't

  • I want to go to this Seaside Heights.... instead of the Sleazeside it has become.

  • I hate those fucking wannabes. Because of them, the shore is OVERCOME with the most ignorant, stupid, and fucking annoying people who traveled there for the sole purpose of meeting these dickweeds! I've spent almost every summer of my life at Seaside, it's like my second home! I noticed a TREMENDOUS change from 2009 to 2010. Now it's a breeding ground for even more obnoxious and arrogant assholes than we've ever had before! *sigh*

  • @emmoon1 I was a heavy smoker back then and I'm still alive and well.

  • I grew up going down Seaside every summer. I remember hearing Mountains Mississippi Queen blasting from the Swiss Bob.

  • Where's Snooki?

  • what kind of music did they used to play on the boardwalk/casino pier back then?? like now they play lots of techno, house, hip hop, and pop lol. did they play any music on the rides/shops back then?

  • @FenianandLimey Uhm no, its actually way better now. Maybe you should stop being racist and take a walk down there. Im there all summer every summer and NO blacks have not taken over seaside or anyother NJ beaches. There are alot of blacks that visit wildwood and seaside park moreso than the boardwalk or Seaside itself. Everybody would like the blacks to pack up for Africa of course but its not fair to only blame them and the puertarican ghetto bunnies. Seaside is awesome, its growing fast.
