Kingsports Stella Robinette believes history is important for what you take from it. Its the reason she spearheads an annual effort to create a community-wide event celebrating Black History Month in Kingsport. This year it was held at the Kingsport Renaissance Center.

Carlton Starr Releford is one of the performers returning to Kingsport to lend his talents to the program. An actor and singer, Releford is the youth project director for The Carpetbag Theater in Knoxville. He presented an interactive drama workshop designed to teach children stage and speaking etiquette.

For more information on becoming a part of the annual event, call Stella Robinette at 423-276-6541 or Lucy Fleming at 423-392-8809.
