the waterproof coating would probably mean no more washing clothes.

Hahah, I just love reading such comments :) It has NOTHING to do with how big a molecule is or how thick the substance is. This coating is super-/hydrophobic which means a repulsion between the coating and water. The coating does NOT make the gaps in the material too small for water molecules to enter it. The effect seen in 1:10 relay on repulsion and surface tension. See watch?v=u5AxlJSiEEs for a demo. PS. please educate yourself before starting an continuing an argument.

If you're telling me dust is smaller than a water molecule you're sorely mistaken. Oil is thicker than water and therefor cannot go where water cannot go either. Think about what you say before you say it. Also the water sits on the surface at 1:10 because the waterproofing material completely covers the holes of the grating. Making it a solid surface of waterproofing with a wire mesh inside.

Lol! Please read your comment again and tell me where's the logic in it? Ofc water won't get past a water-proof material while dust might because its not necessarily dust-proof. Besides dust isn't the only thing that makes clothes dirty! Many oil based liquids can.

Look at 1:10. Imagine that net is a piece of cloth, how could water possibly clean the small gaps between the cloth strings that might contain dirt/oil ?!
