  • @antsorter I think he was politically motivated and a lot of what he created was inspired by the injustices going on around him. Also, had a desire to create new sounds. In general, he was very influenced by Duke Ellington although you can't see it in this piece.

  • You can see the influence Mingus had on Frank Zappa. Listen to "Return of the Son of Monster Magnet" from "Freak Out" after listening to this. "Oh Yeah" was recorded in 1961, 5 years before "Freak Out"
