We have started a green energy company in NJ that does not charge for their audits. The reason these people charge for their audits is they seem to just be lead generators. Then they give the work to contractors, charge more, and take a cut for themself. Not saying theres a wrong or right way to do this but look for NJ Energy Experts for a company that performs audits + installations for a better price.

@Nemisis99 Actually, our company has never taken a penny for referrals, Mr. Nemisis. Our contractor partners give our clients a discount instead, and we get to have a personal relationship with both parties, which leads to more referrals down the line. So yes, I guess we are a lead machine, but it's because we kick butt, and not because we're greedy. Giving anything away for free either undervalues it or trains your clients to expect free stuff. I'm not in favor of either.

Our company and our clients have outgrown this video (as you point out, it's very basic, and geared toward folks who know next to nothing about home performance). In this video we were working with a FLIR BCAM, but we gave that up in exchange for a FLUKE TiR, which is amazing. It costs $4000.
