Charice - Somewhere Over The Rainbow, Live in Boston Oct 2009

Charice sang this classic so well she made it sound like an easy piece to sing. But singing it skillfully is actually quite a challenge for many singers. One can run out of breath towards the end of the song and inevitably finish it in a falsetto voice. Charice sang it superbly. I just love her sweet vocals and melodic melisma here. The effect on me (and I'm sure on others too) is simply marvelous! I personally think it's a brilliant performance and one of her best.

A well-deserved credit goes to David Foster as well. IMHO, here is where Foster's musical genius comes in: by making arrangements well-matched to the performer's singing ability and style, he can make some average singers seem extra-ordinary and undoubtedly bring out the ultimate best from great singers. This segment was unrehearsed, yet Foster's arrangement perfectly complemented Charice's exceptional vocals, hence heightening her already outstanding singing ability. For me, this is a first-rate performance! Brava Charice! Bravo David!
