Improved version was posted in video response!

This piece has fairly tricky tempo. Charlie spent 3 weeks learning this piece and the Diabelli sonatina while keeping up some other pieces. Takes more time to play it cleanly and nicely but I couldn't wait to try out our new HD camcorder. (took a long time to do video conversion particularly because wme kept introducing artifacts).

  • I am sorry to say this, but this piece has been ruined here. It is too mechanical. the left hand is awful hard, this is a delicate piece it evokes nostalgia. Needs more work. maybe too young to understand how profound this piece is. the playing is monotonous, there is no color in it. you have to caress the piano keys when playing this piece. not bang on the instrument.

  • He improved a lot on the piece (check the video response out!) This version was in his early study of this piece. He only got the tempo about right not music yet.

  • is this the new piano u bought for charlie??

  • Yes. This piano sounds better in videos recorded with ext. microphone. Check out our recent videos for that.

  • wow. is like a grand piano. ur rich!!!

of course i will check out charlie new songs

dun worry i will support charlie all the way

  • I wish we were rich, but our new grand cost less than the Yamaha upright another parent bought. We're proud of the sound produced by the made-in-china grand though. Thanks for your support!

  • Charlie you do very well, I wish I could play like that at your age, or now even.

  • @Leskratz First of all.. he's 7. Chill out. (I guess 9 now)

Second, don't you think it's important for anyone, REGARDLESS of age or the skill they are working on, to build technique first?

  • Thanx! We do welcome constructive criticism too! That'll help Charlie improve.

  • That was really good!

I've played this piece, and my only suggestion is to play a little more freely. It sounds very metranomic, and Chopin is meant to be played differently. When it is played at the exact same tempo, it sounds unlike Chopin. I would suggest to just to try to feel the music. Exaggerate when needed, and try not to think about the beat too much. Of course, it should be at a relatively same tempo. But I would just suggest he try to get the message across; not just the notes.
