Is the direct religious experience missing from modern day religion? What is it about the shamanic technique that is so powerful? What is DMT and where does it come into the religious experience?

-------------

Coffee, Cigarettes & Gnosis #31-- Being John Allegro-vich
Shamanism & drug use in Judaism, early Christianity & Gnosticism.

--Special Guests-- Jan Irvin & Andrew Rutajit, authors of 'Astrotheology & Shamanism in Christianity and Other Religions'.

Topics discussed:

--
--The reality that Judaism and Christianity, like most religions, were fertility, solar cults who utilized entheogens in a widespread manner. It just wasn't the priest who partook of the 'funny herbs', mon.
--Clues in the Bible, Gnostic texts and the Judeo/Christian tradition that point to the positive usage of entheogens and hallucinogens.
--How the war on drugs (which is also the war on the Goddess) began hundreds of years before Christ with a changing Jewish Priesthood, fanned out into the Christian worldview centuries later, and continues today with the same nefarious intentions.
--The spiritual and scientific effects of using certain entheogens such as mushroom, natural LSD and cannabis.
--Evidence of entheogens also in Hinduism and Buddhism.
--Redeeming John Allegro and his controversial discoveries of The Dead Sea Scrolls. (Jesus is a Mushroom...whadda ya gonna do?)

And much more!

Gnostics have always been accused of being 'out there'. But 'out there' often means an inward journey into the wellspring of gnosis.

  • my philosophy on drugs is if you have never tried them dont be a uninformed dick. you have no idea what its like and there is no possible way to explain it with out having done it your self.

  • The holier-than-thou meditators wouldn't meditate if it were illegal to do so - upon pain of incarceration or death if discovered doing so. Entheogens require a courage that is almost entirely lacking in every other experiential path. It is "putting your money where your mouth is" in a real deal sort of way. No kid gloves, no zafu to rest one's mental arse on, and no second thoughts once the journey begins.

Entheogens + meditation + courage = deep spiritual realization, aka: Gnosis.

  • There is a battle....one between the rational, logical portion of the brain and the "other" part of your brain. The other part is what is artistic (color, sound, music....general low level intelligence). This "low level intelligence" is actually smarter than the "high level intelligence". It is what makes up genius. High level intelligence is slow in processing (compared to computers)....it is what computers do better than us. The "low level intelligence is what computers cannot do.....

  • all those dancing were considered insane by those who didnt hear the music...open your ears please, it's quite a tune

  • A strange invitation to be the lamb to sit down with a lion to commune with saints remembering all my sinful days realizing my shameful ways that which seemed shameful before is redeemed and that which was sought is forgotten laid to rest utterly for a new choice for something finer
  • I agree with the poster below, SHUT THE FUCK UP if you are talking from NO experience. People like that are usually Christian baffoons who do NOT even have sense enough to know why their special day is called SUN-day in the first place. What a bunch of pathetic judgemental retards to even open their little uneducated mouths about what they have never done !!

  • CANCER CURE = RICK SIMPSON'S HEMP OIL

  • the whole point is that you always come down again from psychadelics, though you might have a grand lifechanging experience. This does absoulutely occur. But It is not about reaching states. Its about getting to know the absolute truth about everything. And living in wisdom. States has nothing to do with it. Then you are just a jojo.

  • Sorry you don't have to take drugs to go down a mystical experience. It's an easier path, but when you do drugs, you don't have control of your body. People chant over and over again and go to the same experience. Have you ever had a mystical experience or are you blinded by your own hatered to anything alien to you?

  • That's right folks! Mysticism is nothing more than drug induced garbage! These asses are dangerous fools. They will destroy their minds and bodies with drugs. These fools are typical reductionists, reducing everything to the one dimension of drugs. Abraxas, you should know better than this shit. There are no stories of Buddha dying from eating shrooms, nor is there an account of Buddha eating shrooms under the Bodhi tree. Stop listening to liars and knaves like these shit-for-brains deceivers.
