Steven Spielberg came to AFI in 1978 for a seminar with AFI Fellows. In this clip he talks about how a film director needs to handle different actors in different ways.

  • @rockslideproductions I think A.I was pretty good. It is definetely one of his strangest movies, seeing how sad and unusual the movie was.

  • @PrimaveraPictures A.I. is his worst movie. He corrupted this dark, gritty movie about what it means to be human with childhood sentimentality.

  • @MikeAM78 lol No it's not.

  • @FriedEggsandChips Arnold Schwarzenegger. It kinda looks like him, but I don't think it is.

  • @DonCarnag Who's Arnold?

  • @PrimaveraPictures Spielberg has enough stroke to say or do whatever the fuck he wants. Those films dominate for marketing...that's all.

  • @TheForgottenFlesh Yeah. I meant that about 10 years ago, films were more about making you think, if only a little bit. Yes, right now they still do, but what dominates the box office, are films like 'Transformers' or '2012' (the latter one I like for what it is), which are just explosions and as OK as that may be, they are totally uncomparable with films like 'The Book of Eli' or 'Inception', which I both really love for their hidden meanings and make-you-think moments.

  • @PrimaveraPictures Also what do you mean "these days" are you telling me it something else mattered at one point?

  • @DonCarnag Sent back in time, to do lessons

  • @PrimaveraPictures A.I., was just a cash in on Kubrick's name, the only thought behind that movie was "What would Kubrick do" and it didn't work.
