Showing how to apply semi-permanent tape to screen frames. This tape will hold up for years in the dip tank or regular processing. Save on time, labor and product. Stop taping your screens with masking tape or packing tape and start saving money.

  • @inkstains1 - You do not want to put a blow dryer anywhere near your mesh as it will cause the mesh to lose tension and worse, it will occur at different levels.

If the tape is applied on both sides of the mesh and aligned correctly, the glue moves through the mesh openings and creates a chemical bond with the two strips of tapes. When the water pressure is applied from either side it would only push the tape into the mesh, not away from it.

  • Some of our screens the tape didn't hold together. The tape stuck to the metal, were they meet on the mesh they seperate under water pressure. I'm not sure why. Is there somehting that we can do to make stick better? Like say a blow dyer or a glue?

  • Yes, you can adjust the tension. The tape at the corners is meant to be pulled back slightly so that the wrench can be placed on the end plug. I don't remove the tape until it reaches a serious point of degrading. This can sometimes be years after I apply it. Most of the larger print shops are using this technique. I can assure you that those shops exposing 1200 screens a day are not taping every screen. ;-)

  • So, can you adjust the tension still? How do you remove the tape when needed?
