She's just feeling a bit down because she's a new teacher with 30k in student loan debt and overheard the kid from last year's Highlander ad dissing her '92 Tercel on the playground that morning...
And another thing: If the Boomers had any understanding of the real world, they wouldn't have sold the fuck out like they did and completely fucked over the country. Corporate Greed, Globalization, AIDS epidemic, The War on Drugs, The Welfare State...Boomers either created or took these things to the next level.
Fuck you, Boomers. You romanticize a decade of drug-fueled sex like it changed the world. From hippie to yuppie, one form of selfish hedonism to another.
These ads make me want to puke. Another example of self-absorbed Baby Boomers and their inaccurate mental depiction of Generation X/Y lifestyle and thinking process.
I'm not concerned with that my parents do--I know they're pretty active, but at the same time, they clearly don't have the energy they once did. I don't call them frequently. And just because our generation spends time in the virtual world, does not mean we are mentally and physically disconnected from the real one.
I am totally in love with these commercials. I think the ad campaign is fantastically clever, to capitalize on the fact that we've reached an era in which there's a brand new generational gap between parents and kids based on "real world" versus "virtual world". I must have seen this series of ads hundreds of times, and I'm not tired of them!
(However, I never catch what Allyn is saying in the sentence "Ah, xckjsfkds??xlcks? we can't really do that..." What's she saying?)
