only problem is most people only hold a stick with 1 hand. It would make more sence to be used against someone with something like a baseball bat or crowbar

Good luck with that. The time it takes to move your whole body into position is lightyears longer than the time it takes for an enraged person to swing that stick. You better be awfully quick in your feet that's for sure. I'd prefer staying away from them while they are swinging away and waiting for an opening to actually strike them low before moving to actually take them down. But to each his own.
