You cannot DEFEAT a prion...it's protein! it cannot be cooked, tasted, it's hardly detectable...etc.
The only way to stop a prion transmission is to PREVENT it, by killing the cows, which is extremely difficult to do in a healthy cow which may be harboring it.
These days we have methods of slaughtering involving removal of the brain and spinal cord of almost all cattle.

It's ironic that I agree with this fellow that we should be concerned about prions, and that the government and beef industry have been irresponsible about consumer safety. The rest of what he says is nonsense, of course.
