  • 1:50 whats the point of this one? is it to lure someone to break his knee?

  • @Frequent2001 This stance is used as a low kick to the ankle; or it can be used as a heel stomp to the foot; or to pin his foot and press against his instep for an ankle throw and break; but its main use is to hook behind the opponent's ankle and leg for him to trip over or to be thrown over and down. The stance does not face the opponent's kick so it is not easy to break because it is placed behind him to fall over as a trip.

  • mantis seems pretty complicated (and versatile).

  • @timelessnugget It is a complicated system that was created from 18 other kungfu styles plus mantis techniques.

  • @timelessnugget You can learn the forms from the teaching videos in this channel. Watch Patrick Hodges and follow the same moves, one step at a time, an you can learn. Later, when you find a school, you will already be ahead of the learning curve.

  • Shi Zhengzhong from Taiwan; Mei Hua Tang Lang (primarily) . @banjobilly are you with him or perhaps with his student Kevin Brazier?

oh there's also a little bit of Gao Dao Sheng of Long fist mantis in his nineties at the end fine!!

  • @banjobilly i learn hung gar kung fu now, about 6 months, bacause i was bored of wing chun..and i am vey pleased because hung gar is a complete system, with a lot of different punches, kicks, stances, maybe less practical than wing chun in the begining but with more benefits after a few years of training, and more similar to mantis of course..

  • Yup! This is Praying Mantis, alright. Text-book form and training methods - this is just what someone who wants to be a student of this particular art needs to learn...

  • tous jouent magnifique !!!!

  • So beautiful and flawless, i wish i could find a school in vegas so i can learn... and be able to afford it as well :'(

  • @banjobilly Actualy, Tae Kwon Do is mor like Karate. only real difference is that Tae Kwon Do focus is on kicks mainly. (Karate is punching) And Both have a Martial Art form, where its based from actual combat, and martial sport, where the goal is to just, at most, k.o. them. Now, to answer TPRS313, All Martial arts have streangths and weaknesses, like a gun vs a mele weapon. For instance, Grecko-Roman Boxing Vs Kempo.

  • @banjobilly I'd make a different distinction. Even martial arts have their inherent flaws - maybe the propagator didn't address particular scenario.

Martial sports' effectiveness is highly dependent on how athletic the practitioner is, thus boxing and WTFTaekwondo.

Whereas martial arts' main purpose is to direct the flow of the fight in your favor, and the effectiveness is measured by the ability to understand and apply techniques regardless of athleticism (though you need it for many arts)
