as Sony always try to improve camera quality each time the release a new version of Android (or even just firmware updates) :D

i also have a xperia U (2.3.7) and THIS video doesnt represent the quality,

the quality is clear and has NO PIXELS i also disable the Image Stabilizer and this "pseudo-image-wobbling" is gone! the Image Stabilizer is contra-productive.
