This is the best dance band i've ever known. It's only now, many years later I can appreciate the full complexity of what they were doing. At the time, I just dropped down and adored them. New York Hotel Brisbane. And then i got up again and didn't stop dancing. This is one of the quintessential all time fabulous yet underated bands of Australia.
how the fuck could anybody think this song "unstimulating"? i agree with the subsequent poster - if there are bands making music this complex and adventurous today then i'd love to hear about them!
for a man with buddy guy vids on his sight i am surprised you dont recognise the great drumming of jeffrey wegener and the genre, time and context with which this song was released - rock on mate
G'day, I remember Macca very well and the whole incident. When I saw that film about Roger Rogerson it brought me to tears as Rogerson was a D at Darlo at the time of Macca's death. Rogerson was very much a part of the scene when we were the kids on the receiving end of the drugs he was dealing. We sure were targets back then. I also knew Abbo but never met Neddy Smith, thank God. Side FX was brilliant and was all very much a part of how punk felt back then.
excellent. i first saw the laughing clowns at side fx, the glorious big squat on liverpool (or is that burton) st. anyone else there?
i wish darlinghurst was still full of squats and junkies. although i don't miss the beatings from the darlinghurst police. anyone remember macca whom died in the cells at darlinghurst police station?
