how did you get the beta files to work with wotlk!?

This is early alpha, not beta.

The beta had not yet started when this was recorded

The way I did it is obsolete now, after WotlK was released. The files should be in your original WoW directory now, so it shouldn't be to much of a problem to find em with standard programs like Model Viewer
