piece of crap iz killing me, will not "open" & icon just dissappeared 4 no reason! It says "This application must be launched directly from the origional hp simplesave storage solution.", what the hell duz that mean??!! want 2 stomp it!, but that wont bring my childrens precious pics back!! some one pleez post any info u think might help. Thanx.

I reformatted mine and set windows automatic back-up to this this and it works very good.

The specs say Windows, but I'm guessing that's just for compatibility with the built in software. I read a review from a mac user saying they have a problem with the virtual cd running (which is the built in software) but I think the drive itself should work. Sorry if that doesn't help.

Can you deactivate the backup utility?
i mean like using it as a normal software-less hard drive...basically just want to copy and paste my stuff on it,then copy those said files to another computer...

yeah I don't even use the software that's built in because it doesn't seem to like a few file extensions. I just copy and paste stuff...occasionally I use the WIndows backup utility which works great with it.
