Epic double album by Robert Pollard / Chris Slusarenko / John Moen

Out August 2, 2011

Features guest guitarists Colin Newman (Wire), J Mascis (Dinosaur Jr.), Steve Wynn (Dream Syndicate), Mick Collins (The Dirtbombs), Dave Rick (Phantom Tollbooth) and Mitch Mitchell (Guided By Voices).

A 75-minute thrill ride through the many forms Pollard has mastered in his three decades of writing and recording, Let It Beard is the White Album meets Quadrophenia meets Jesus Christ Superstar meets Same Place The Fly Got Smashed.

Robert Pollard has called the epic double-LP "a subconscious concept album about the sorry state of rock and roll."

  • One of Pollards best albums, needs more than a few listens, but once you get it it's fucking killer.

  • i like the album overall, but it does seem like they did a pretty good job of picking most of the best parts for this trailer.

  • Leave it to old guys like me to make the freshest, most satisfying music I've heard in a while. Do I hear vintage Bowie, some Who, a little Lennon, even some FLaming Lips. This is some great stuff all done in awesome LoFi!

  • The Record is THE BEST RECORD I've HEARD in years!! AMAZING!!

  • Hope they play live at some time, never got a chance to see gbv by name, would love to see them by heart.

  • Sounds amazing. Saw Dinosaur Jr live in Philly a month ago, and J Mascis is a hell of a guitarist! Nice gust to have.

  • @stubnubs........exactly.....gets me all tingly too! these records are something special.

  • I here the Sgt. Pepper influence with the horns, and that ending part is like A day in the life.....

  • this sends chills up my spine every time...and it's only the advertisement. epic? hell yes. i will not shave until the release. do i smell another tour?

  • im digging this. maybe this will help me put GBV in the past. and not in a bad way... just in an acceptance way.
