Please enjoy this video from Crazy, the upcoming CD release from the baroque ensemble, I FURIOSI.

Georg Friedrich Handel was considered a bit crazy in his day. When he wasn't getting into sword fights or storming around raving, he was writing impassioned operas. He wrote Cleopatra's aria, Piangerò la Sorte Mia,("I shall mourn my cruel fortune.."), portrayed and sung brilliantly by Gabrielle McLaughlin, to reflect her insanity at being imprisoned and at her authority being challenged. In the opera, she has just been defeated by Tolomeo and his army. Before this aria, Tolomeo sings "Domero la tua fierezza" (" I will tame you of your pride.") Thus humiliated, her anger drives her insane.

I FURIOSI are Aisslinn Nosky, violin; Felix Deak, cello; Julia Wedman, violin; and, Gabrielle McLaughlin, soprano.

  • They are amazing!!! See them in concert!!!!

    soo worth it!!!

  • Great performance. I keep staring at this beautifull Julia Wedman, she's great.

Please tune (or tube) up a track written about the rehabilitation of Anne Boleyn (one of the six Tudor/Henry VIII's wifes) called "Defiled is my Name". I studied this part a while ago singing in a Medievial/Renaissance Ensemble here in the Netherlands and the only available excerpt was I Furiosi's performance of this Robert Johnston's (???)composition. Greetings (and a smooth kiss for Julia......)
