The Wandering Artist - by Anna Larsen

This piece received an honorable mention from the Pikes Peak Young Composers Competition. This was Anna's first attempt at writing for another instrument. Unfortunately, I screwed up and didn't have the camera turned on for the opening few bars. For Anna, this was good learning experience, and awesome to have a chance to perform it with a cellist. As I said in the previous posts, this was a great venue to debut a piece with a great audience. They appreciated hearing something "new", and I have to say it was very special. For once, our youth were in center stage instead of the old Masters. It was fresh and fun. The organizers did an excellent job with a healthy amount of publicity. It was also fun to meet with other kids excited about composing. Special thanks to the cellist Evan Lynch for reading through the piece with Anna.

There was a third prize winner, Adam Teske, who had a cool piece called Ghost Cave. I don't think it's on YouTube though.
