Leandra is understandably concerned about both of her remaining children going into the dangerous Deep Roads, and would prefer that Sylvia leave Carver behind. So naturally, she goes against her wishes and takes Carver along anyway! Surely the team will emerge both unscathed and utterly victorious, no?
