[ Thursday December 23rd 2004 ]
Selena's bedroom looked like a nuclear bomb had been set of. A sea of clothes was spread across from one side of the room to the other. She couldn't find the perfect outfit to wear for the evening. She didn't want to look too overdressed or underdressed; she wanted to make a good impression.
Leighton came knocking on her door around lunchtime after her shift at the diner in order to help her decide what to wear. In the end she settled for her ladybird frill dress with a thin belt clenched at her waist along with a cropped denim jacket and black tights.
Nick knocked on the door at precisely eight o'clock. Selena quickly checked her appearance in the mirror, fixed her hair and proceeded to answer the door. Nick was wearing a plaid blue and white shirt along with a waistcoat and fitting dark jeans. "You look really nice" he complimented.
She could feel the heat on her cheeks as a blush crept upon her face. She bit down on her bottom lip nervously and looked down at the threshold of the door. "Thank you" she replied.
A smile graced his facial features at her watched her reaction. He loved the way she blushed as it made her even cuter. "Are you ready?" he questioned kindly.
"Yes" she grabbed her cross body bag and closed the door behind them.

When they arrived Selena took a deep breath before Nick knocked on the door. A tall man who looked to be in his forties, presumably his father opened the door. You could instantly tell that Nick inherited his father's features. "Nick, Selena you made it" he said with a reassuring smile.
"Its very nice to meet you Mr. Jonas, you have a lovely home" she stated and it was a beautiful home indeed. Tall and narrow, three storeys high and each wall and brick had been painted in an eggshell white.
"Please call me Paul dear. Come inside it must be cold out there" he led them both inside the warm house. Once inside, they dusted off the snow and ice off their shoes on the welcome mat and took them off.
"Denise has made a lovely Fettuccine Alfredo for tonight" he said as they walked through the spacious hallway until they reached the glamorous kitchen.
Selena gasped in awe at the spacious kitchen. It had perfect granite countertops going all the way along the wall with another island counter in the middle. On the island counter there was an espresso machine. On the counter aligning the wall there was a microwave. There was a fridge on one side and a large stove on the other. Above the counters were cabinets, which were filled with plates and glasses.
"Wow" she said breathlessly. Mrs. Jonas turned around with a smile plastered across her face. "You have a wonderful kitchen Mrs. Jonas" she complimented.
"Thank you and please call me Denise," she said with a warm smile, "I don't like the formality, it makes me sound old" she said with a giggle.
"Do you need any help with dinner?" she politely asked.
"No thank you sweetie. Why don't you go sit in the dinning room?" she said as she opened the fridge. They all began to take their seats at the large rectangle table in the dinning room.
They all began to talk when Mrs. Jonas placed the food down onto the table along with some red wine and they finally set down to eat.

The dinner turned out to be much better than she had imagined. The meal was divine and cooked to perfection no doubt Nick picked up his mothers flare for cooking. She also found out that he got his talent for photography from his father.
After dinner they all sat down in the lounge where they were ate some chocolate cake and ice cream whilst they played charades, and for the first time in years, Selena felt like she belonged to a family again.
