@Jubal918 You mean, Marion Slaughter, aka Vernon Dalhart, or any of the other pseudonyms he used. I have a documented cut of him singing " The Wreck Of The Old Southern '97" on the Gennett label that predates the victor cut. Defiantly a good musician, regardless.

The best version yet. It includes all the original words. Jeff Calhoun (aka Vernon Dalhart) did a great job. He was also the first million selling country singer in 1924 for recording "The Prisoner's Song" on the "B" side of "The Wreck of the Old 97". Marion Try Slaughter (his real name) recorded under more than 135 different names during his career. He took the name Vernon Dalhart from two towns in Texas.
