Otis Visiting Artist: Ruben Ochoa (97)

Ruben Ochoa, Otis alumni 97, is currently a Los Angeles-based sculpture and installation artist. He was born in 1974 in Oceanside and received his MFA from UC Irvine in 2003 and his BFA from Otis in 1997. In March 2008, he was selected as a recipient of the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship. Ruben has had numerous solo exhibitions in Los Angeles, Berlin, Buffalo and San Diego. He has been included in group exhibitions including upcoming Collectors XXIV, Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, and recently Its all about Sculpture at the Haubrok Foundation, Berlin, In the Round: The 90th Anniversary of OTIS College of Art & Design, at Andrew Shire Gallery, L.A.;
Other projects include Fwy Wall Extraction(10 fwy eastbound below Soto St and Marengo Blvd intersection, L.A.), Disrup, L.A., aint that revolutionary, L.A., and CLASS: C, a mobile artist space featuring over 75 artists, curators, and collaborators throughout Southern California.
