Bombasic charlatan. Stephen Lewis promotes genital mutilation of children to "slow the spread of AIDS".

History will show that this opportunist is a phoney and a fraud.

This motherfucker believes in the end justifying the means.

He promotes genital mutilation of males because he's too cowardly to back up genital mutilation of females as a HIV Preventative.

HIV is a worthy cause to get behind, but not at the cost of treating people as if they are cattle that need have their body parts mutilated to prevent it's spread.

He speaks of gender equality, but refuses to acknowledge that men have the right to grow up with all of their body parts, just like girls can.

@Bonobo3D Yes he may have been mistaken with promoting circumcision, but at the same time, he has spoken in front of millions to inspire them to do SOMETHING about the pandemic. He has a successful foundation which has now raised millions of dollars fighting HIV/AIDS in Africa. I don't think that someone who has raised all this awareness deserves a title such as "disgusting" and "disappointment".

We've been running our own tests and HIV IS NOT PREVENTED BY GENITAL MUTILATION.

@drealgrin But the biggest difference is I don't treat these African men as if they are cattle to be managed. They are people just as we are, we have no right to be lying to them and to give them false hope that circumcision prevents HIV (which it doesn't.)

You still have to wear a condom and practice safe sex.

It's not a personal bias i'm promoting. It's basic human rights. Male Genital Mutilation as HIV Prevention is misinformation and beyond offensive.

Tell me, how many men are going to have sex with a bleeding painful penis? That already gives an edge to the mutilated group because they ARE ABSTINENT FOR THE ENTIRE HEALING PROCESS.

Were the intact group given the same medical care as the cut group?The same safe sex education? If you WERE cut and you got HIV. Would you really want to return to the monsters who mutilated your penis?

You call the New England Journal of Medicine, the American Cancer Society "pseudo-science"? Where'd you get YOUR facts from? I'll tell you where I got mine: 8 weeks in Tanzania volunteering in an HIV/AIDS prevention and support for PLHIV project. Many of our local staff members are now HIV positive because they did not have access to sanitary circumcisions and medicare. They'd be disgusted to hear that you're promoting your own personal bias to impede their access to circumcision.

@scarscanbebeautiful You can't hack off the most sensitive part of a person's penis and expect that to reduce HIV transmission. Reducing sensitivity then requires the man to thrust harder to achieve the same amount of satisfaction, which in turn increases the chances of tearing and HIV transmission. Who wants to have LESS sensitivity and still be forced to wear a condom?

What these disgustingly biased pseudoscientists were studying for is a way to validate male genital mutilation.

In reality, circumcision cures NOTHING. And immediately causes a wound which must be cared for.

There isn't a single reputable study that concludes MGM helps with reducing HIV.AIDS. We are lying to Africans to normalize circumcision throughout the world.

@drealgrin Circumcision also protects men from other STIs, skin infections, UTIs, penile cancer, and the list goes on and on. Genital mutilation is a ritual practice that jeopardizes human health, S-L is proposing that adequate medical services be provided to men to ENSURE human health. Would you honestly jeopardize the health of men around the world (and their partners from HIV transmission) because YOU have a problem with circumcision???
